one of my favorites and I owe you
so much!!

As for Elvin, thanks for helping one
of the great drum legends - a man who
will echo in drum and music history
for all time. I have so much of his
stuff with McCoy and Coltrane.

His 'skipping-ride' will be forever
remembered and attempted. Steve Gadd
talked alot about Elvin - that para-
diddle-diddle his signature.

Of course, our positive thoughts will
be with him in gratitude!

Dear Friends,

Thanks for the many calls and e-mails regarding Elvin, and I am happy to report that I spoke with his wife, Keiko, today, Friday, May 7th at 12:30 p.m. eastern time, and thankfully, Elvin is still with us on earth. Keiko has assured me Elvin is remaining strong and resting comfortably in New York.

Keiko asked me to express her deep thanks to everyone for their love, prayers and genuine concern for Elvin. Please continue to pray for him. Thank you on behalf of all his friends here at Zildjian. God Bless you, EJ.

I sent an email to WCPN which is our local NPR Jazz station here in Cleveland Ohio. We have a DJ here his name is Dan Polletta. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things jazz. I let him know about Mr. Jones' condition and suggested that maybe he could do a tribute show to Elvin Jones the man and his music. Small world with Michael being on here. His son takes swimming lessons where i work and now i see him on here, Cool! I think Michael plays every Monday nite at a spot down the street from my house. Anyone in the Seattle area should go and check him out.
